چکیده

Traffic control for large-scale urban road networks remains a challenging problem. Aggregated dynamical models of city-scale traffic, based on the macroscopic fundamental diagram (MFD), enable development model-based perimeter methods. Involving actuation over aggregated traffic flows, specifies an effective and practicable congestion solution. In this paper, we propose nonlinear model predictive schemes, regulation economic optimization objectives, with closed-loop stability by construction. Macroscopic microscopic simulations demonstrate performance domain attraction properties proposed formulations. Results indicate potential methods efficient reliable traffic. • control. Feedback stabilization is required to recover city from near-gridlock conditions. Stabilizing achieves recovery. Domain lost due uncertainty can be recovered via state estimation. Simulations suggest stabilizing practice.

A simplified macroscopic urban traffic network model for model-based predictive control

A model predictive control (MPC) approach offers several advantages for controlling and coordinating urban traffic networks. To apply MPC in large urban traffic networks, a fast model that has a low on-line computational complexity is needed. In this paper, a simplified macroscopic urban traffic network model is proposed and tested. Compared with a previous model, the model reduces the computin...

Macroscopic Traffic Flow Control via State Estimation

The studies presented in this paper deal with traffic control in case of missing data and/or when the loop detectors are faulty. We show that the traffic state estimation plays an important role in traffic prediction and control. Two approaches are presented for the estimation of the main traffic variables (traffic density and mean speed). The state constructors obtained are then used for traff...

Traffic Engineering Based on Model Predictive Control

In recent years, the time variation of Internet traffic has increased due to the growth of streaming and cloud services. Backbone networks must accommodate such traffic without congestion. Traffic engineering with traffic prediction is one approach to stably accommodating time-varying traffic. In this approach, routes are calculated from predicted traffic to avoid congestion, but predictions ma...
